I’m back running on a regular basis after a 2-week break imposed by my coach. At first I was struggling with taking that long of a break, but then I started to enjoy it. Sleep in every day? Don’t mind if I do!
My first run since the Newport Marathon was a 30-minute run in Memphis. I’d planned to run again on Monday morning after returning home, but I was too tired after my flight from Memphis arrived late Sunday night. I ran about 40 minutes with my running partner, A, on Tuesday, and about 50 minutes on Thursday.
Note that I’m measuring my runs in minutes, not miles. I’m purposely not wearing my Garmin so I’m not tempted to monitor my pace.
I’m also running the Lululemon Seawheeze for my third year in a row.
This time it falls on my birthday weekend, so I’m running it to celebrate a milestone birthday. My husband is going to run it, too, and he’s never completed a half-marathon before, so I’m considering being a nice wife and running with him to the finish. We’ll see.
This is all leading up to a fall marathon, of course, and an effort to PR again. My race? The Portland Marathon. Yes, in spite of the ugly t-shirts, I’ve decided to run Portland for the third time. I have roughly 12 weeks to train, so it will be a short training cycle, but I think I’ll be fine.
What do you have on the race horizon? Which race are you most looking forward to?
