Happy Hump Day, friends!
Here are my workouts from the past week:
Thursday, 11/27: Ran the Tacoma City Turkey Trot 5K (3.1 miles) in 23:43, plus 1 mile warm-up. Read my race recap here.
Friday, 11/28: Rest… Although I walked a lot in Seattle.
Saturday, 11/29: Rest. (And more walking throughout downtown Seattle.)
Sunday, 11/30: Ran the Seattle Half-Marathon (13.24 miles) in 1:58:14, plus approximately 1 mile warm-up. Recap to come.
Monday, 12/1: Rest.
Tuesday, 12/2: Rest.
Wednesday, 12/3: Rest.
Yeah, I know. 3 consecutive days of rest. I decided to be extra conservative after the Seattle Half because I:
(1) ran 2 races in 4 days;
(2) ran the half with inadequate training (the longest run I’ve done since August was only 8 miles); and,
(3) felt IT Band tightness and soreness after the half.
My goal for December is to stay injury-free, so kicking off the month with 3 days of rest is fitting, right? Tuesday night I had a massage with Heidi and, while my IT Band still felt tight and sore with deep tissue massage, it hasn’t continued to bother me otherwise. Huge sigh of relief right there.
Total Mileage for the Week of 11/27-12/3/2014: 17.34 miles.
This was a very active week for me, racing-wise, but not mileage-wise. I ended up running .86 fewer miles this week compared to last week, a difference of 5%. Looking forward to next week, my goal will be to resist increasing my weekly mileage by more than 2 cumulative miles. I have a new mantra: “I am and will stay injury-free.”
What was your best workout of the week? What is your running goal for December?
