Call me obsessive, but I have been checking the Chicago Marathon website about every other day for the last month, waiting for the organizers to announce information about the registration process for the 2015 race. Finally that information was emailed and posted yesterday.
Registration opens in March! The date will be announced in mid-February, but for now at least I know that as a time-qualifier, I can register for guaranteed entry in March, which is also when the lottery opens.
Fortunately, the qualifying standards have not changed for the 2015 Chicago Marathon. To obtain guaranteed entry, women have to post a 3:45 or faster marathon, and men 3:15 or faster. Proof of those times will be required, and only times from full marathons can be used. I was nervous that the organizers might toughen the qualifying standards, but fortunately they’re sticking with the same standards as last year. At least I get to use my Boston qualifying time (3:44:33) for something! I can call myself a Chicago Squeaker now.
