Today’s theme is favorite things, and I since it’s been ages since I’ve shared things I’ve been loving lately, this theme arrived at the perfect time.
These are the top 5 things I’ve been loving lately:
1. Albanese Gummi Bears
How do I feel about these? They are the best gummi bears I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. And I’ve been on the earth a long time, folks! Albanese gummis come in 12 flavors. My favorite is probably pineapple, which is slightly lame of me because every gummi bear company already makes pineapple-flavored gummi bears, but all of the other unique flavored (e.g., blue raspberry, watermelon) are fantastic. We can’t keep these babies in stock at our house.
I love me a good HBO series, and “Togetherness” does not disappoint. This dramedy helmed by Mark Duplass and Jay Duplass is a brutally real and funny portrayal of relationships–marital, romantic, platonic, and familial. The first episode was a little awkward for me, but by the second episode, “Handcuffs,” I was hooked. I love a show that can make me laugh out loud but also cause me to get a little wistful as I reflect on my own life.
I am this close to running again and I’ve decided to reward myself in advance. Generous, aren’t I?
I’ve been eyeing these puppies since Oiselle debuted them last month on their website, and I’m finally pulling the trigger! I love Rogas because their stretchy nature and well-designed cut make them perfect for running, TRX, whitewater rafting–you name it. And that color! Mama like.
I am so incredibly excited for our big trip to the East Coast at the end of this month! I’ve been booking hotels, scoping out restaurants, and making plans with friends back in DC and Maryland. I can’t wait to show my kids the sights in the District as well as in the surrounding states. I am also excited to reconnect with old friends and meeting (in real life) some new friends who I’ve “met” through blogging. I haven’t put this much forethought into a trip since I went backpacking in Europe when I was in college.
5. Chesapeake by James Michener
What?! This book is, like, almost 40 years old! Well, yes, but it’s new to me.
When I was a kid, my mom read James Michener novels. Now, apparently, it’s my turn. I bought this book as a change of pace from the symbolism-laden, character-driven fiction I usually read, and to prepare for our trip Back East. So far, I’m totally hooked by its stories, which follow various characters (some based on real people, such as John Smith) living around the Chesapeake Bay from the 16th to the 20th century. It’s easy-reading historical fiction–and I’m actually learning things!
