It’s Tuesday. Sigh. I missed the Weekend Update, which is disappointing. I don’t want to call myself a “failure,” but let’s just say I was primed and ready on Sunday to write the best Weekend Update post ever. And then I became too busy and it didn’t happen.
So I missed the boat on Monday but I still want to catch you up in the latest random happenings in my-so-called life. Here goes!
My son and I were out toodling around town recently and we spotted this feat of engineering:
The Planter’s Peanuts Nutmobile! I’d never heard of it, but apparently it’s a thing–like the Oscar Mayer weinermobile except with fewer animal byproducts. (Please ignore my son’s best attempt to look like Jack Nicholson in “The Shining.” He’s really a nice kid. Really.)
My friend Kris is running for City Council in our fair burg, and I was jazzed to introduce her at the campaign kick-off.
I’m so glad I don’t mind talking in front of groups.
This past weekend, the kids and I went to a play at Seattle Center and witnessed an annual Pacific Northwest ritual:
The Unseasonable Wearing of the Shorts and Sunbathing, both of which usually occur on the first sunny, 55+ degree day in the Northwest.
I also bonded with some of my four-legged runner friends this weekend. Like me, they were also out for their Sunday Runday:
Look how happy he/she is! I would be, too, if I had form like that.
Recently, I started following @f___jerry on Instagram. I didn’t find him myself. I swear that my most-proper-and-well-mannered Southern friend T told me I needed to follow him, and so I did.
And I laugh at least once a day at his posts, which include high-brow gems like this:
I know, it’s not exactly the New Yorker. But it’s funny and relatable, right? Right?
In other, totally unrelated news, I am now the proud owner of a sit-stand convertible work station! I’m now two full work-days into it, and I’ve sat for only about three hours total. So fantastic.
My hip flexors love me now.
This time the delivery was a take on the Hawaiian lunch plate, but instead of the kalua pork, mac salad, and two scoops of rice, this Southern-cum-Pacific version included smoked spareribs and brisket, as well as fixins to make spring rolls. The vinegary slaw on the side provided the perfect acidity and crunch.
So that’s what I’ve been up to. How about you?
What’s the best thing you’ve eaten recently? What’s the funniest account you follow on Instagram? Have you seen the Nutmobile?
