#LATakeover2016 Weekend Recap

Hello, friends!

I hope you had a great holiday weekend. As my last post explained, I took advantage of the long weekend to travel down the coast to Los Angeles to watch the Olympic Marathon Trials and run the LA Marathon. I cannot believe how much I accomplished last weekend and how quickly the time passed.

Marilyn and I flew down early Friday morning and were picked up at Bob Hope Airport (my new favorite airport in Southern California–so tiny and efficient!) by our friend and Oiselle teammate, Ali. Ali was so sweet to pick us up and took us on a scenic route to our hotel with detours to check out the Hollywood sign, the Hollywood Bowl, and the Original Farmers Market. Continue reading

What better reason to finally blog again?

My Instagram profile describes me thusly: “Sometimes I blog.”

I haven’t blogged in ages. Since 2015, to be exact. And here we are, ten days into the second month of 2016, and I’m finally getting around to blogging. I have a very good reason for finally getting around to doing so!

I leave this Friday for Los Angeles!  Woohoooo! Continue reading

Things I’m Loving Lately: Dog Days Edition

It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with a Things I’m Loving Lately post, and I’ve encountered enough rad things in the interim that there are too many to list. Seriously. Well, I could list them, but you’d have to take a nap break midway through this post.

Here are my absolute faves lately:

The Oiselle Constellation Roll Sleeve

When I attended its flagship store grand opening last month, Oiselle was kind enough to gift me and other attendees of its after-party with a limited edition Constellation Roll Sleeve. It’s made of ultra-soft cotton and has a simple but pretty design which makes it highly versatile. I’ve worn it with super casual shorts at the pool as well as with khakis at work on casual Friday. Super Random

I’m experimenting with something new today after reading a great post on Fairytales and Fitness: Joining a new link-up on Running with Spoons that’s themed “thinking out loud.” Because I think every post I write is me, thinking out loud (perhaps a bit too much), I decided to put a little spin on the theme and list some really random stuff I’ve encountered lately.

A Weekend in Eugene

Hi, guys! I’m tardy for the party, but finally I’ve pulled it together enough to post pictures from my weekend as a way to contribute to Tara‘s Weekend Update Link-Up.

IMG_5781I know–I’m a slacker.

As you may know, last Friday my family and I drove down to Eugene, Oregon (Tracktown, USA) to participate in the Eugene Marathon festivities. None of us was actually running the marathon (well, not completely), but we all played our own small role in the weekend.

My son ran the kids’ Duck Dash, a 1K race that finishes on the legendary Hayward Field track. Consistent with his past races, he went out too fast and lost crashed somewhere in the middle. I’m working on pacing with him. 🙂

Oh boy, what a weekend!

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s installment of Weekend Update, my contribution to Tara‘s Weekend Update Link-Up.
IMG_5781Please check out her blog, Running ‘n’ Reading, to see what she’s been up to. And, if you’re a blogger, please consider linking up!

This weekend had the perfect blend of being busy and having downtime. I had time to cook:

What’s New?

It’s Tuesday. Sigh.  I missed the Weekend Update, which is disappointing. I don’t want to call myself a “failure,” but let’s just say I was primed and ready on Sunday to write the best Weekend Update post ever. And then I became too busy and it didn’t happen.

So I missed the boat on Monday but I still want to catch you up in the latest random happenings in my-so-called life. Here goes!

My son and I were out toodling around town recently and we spotted this feat of engineering:

The Planter’s Peanuts Nutmobile! I’d never heard of it, but apparently it’s a thing–like the Oscar Mayer weinermobile except with fewer animal byproducts. (Please ignore my son’s best attempt to look like Jack Nicholson in “The Shining.” He’s really a nice kid. Really.)
