2015 Running Year in Review

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”

2015 was a challenging year for me, running-wise (and otherwise). I was faced with new professional challenges, as well as new kid-rearing hurdles. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that 2015 was a terrible year, it just wasn’t a good one for the first three-quarters. (Stick with me, though—it does get better.)

2015 Point Ruston Independence Day 5K Recap

The 2015 Point Ruston Independence Day 5K took place on (surprise!) July 4, 2015, in Tacoma and Ruston, Washington.

I decided at the last minute to sign up for it because my running partner in crime, Aimee, prodded me to do it. I also thought it would be a great way to participate in Nuun’s first virtual race, Run Ride Rehydrate, which I was able to participate in as a member of Team Nuun.

My laziness game is on fleek

It’s nearly August and I think I’ve posted maybe three times this entire summer, which means I’m a shoo-in to win the Laziest Running Blogger Award this year (ah, if only such an award existed!).

I promised myself (and y’all) that I would post at least twice per week and, well, it’s working out to twice per month. I’m sorry, mea culpa, but let’s move on and not look back.

5 Ways to Share the Love (of Running)

Happy Friday, friends!

When you read this, most likely I will be on my way to Tracktown, USA–a.k.a., Eugene, Oregon, home of the legendary Oregon Track Club and Steve Prefontaine. I am so excited to get down there, see some Oiselle birds and Twitter pals, and run part of the Eugene Marathon!

5.  Go on a run/walk with a friend who’s not a runner.

I recently went on a run/walk with a close friend of mine who’s interested in getting back into running after taking several years off. She wasn’t sure if she would be able to run even a mile but she surprised herself. We ran about a mile and a half at her pace and then walked the rest of the way. We both had a great time and it increased her confidence to continue running and build her mileage. I hope she’s inspired enough to run a race with me later this year! Continue reading

Workout Wednesday

Welcome back for another installment of Workout Wednesday!

Every time I see the above graphic, I start hearing Olivia Newton John’s “Let’s Get Physical” in my head.

My goal for this week was to get back on track with running and working out so that I was exercising consistently. As you may recall, last week I bagged out on a few runs and workouts because of fatigue caused by my temporarily over-active social life.
